Roy looking for home comforts

Roy Hodgson is looking to ease any anxiety by taking all three points as Swansea City visit The Hawthorns tomorrow.

Albion have been on a poor run of form at home with a minority of supporters making their feelings known after the game with some disappointing performances leading to a run of five games without a home win in the league.

Although Hodgson hasn't been displeased with some of the recent home performances he admits that he would take a poor performance in exchange for the points but it will be a tough ask against a very impressive Swansea side.

"There will be anxiety because when the crowd come to watch you at home they come to watch you win, and when you don't win you disappoint them," said Hodgson.

"We are all aware of that so there will be some anxiety.

"All you can do is win games or it becomes a bigger problem each time you step out onto your home pitch.

"But I think there is enough quality, experience and spirit in the team to overcome these things.

"It would be nice to start that tomorrow.

"We need a result.

"I would swap some of the performances, which have not been too bad, for worse performances if you could guarantee me a result because football isn't about beauty prizes, shots at goal or how much possession you have, it's about how many goals you score and how many you let in.

"I've always been prepared to sacrifice performance for results but, and this might be old school, but I do believe if you don't perform well you don't get results."

Albion have been boosted by the news that Paul Scharner (Achilles), Billy Jones (hamstring) and Jerome Thomas (ankle) are all fit enough to be available for selection.

Hodgson has also revealed that deadline day signings Liam Ridgewell and Keith Andrews will both be in the squad but striker Shane Long remains a doubt.

"Paul is back in full training while Jerome has recovered from his injury," added Hodgson.

"Steven Reid returned from his injury situation at Fulham and it's now the same scenario for with Billy.

"And the only doubt remains Shane Long, who has not done as much training this week as he would like.

"Apart from that, we're looking much better.

"There is a good chance of Liam and Keith playing a part.

"They are in the squad that the team will be selected from."
